Certification Process

Certification Process

If you want to complete the process of ISO certification you need to establish objectives and identify what you hope to gain through certification. You cannot implement quality management in only one area of your business and should expect some resistance to change when implementing it throughout the organisation. It’s important to establish measurement policies and how you plan on following them.

The responsibilities must be clearly defined and communicated to the staff members to ensure that certification can be achieved. As part of the process, you must prepare proper documentation regarding the QMS implemented and all the policies as well as procedures aligned with ISO 9001.

The documentation should include details about:

  • the company structure
  • recording of information
  • employee responsibilities
  • the preferred line of communication
  • actions needed
  • and continuity when new employees are appointed.

Who is responsible?

You need to appoint a person that will take responsibility for the ISO 9001 implementation throughout the company. When you make use of our services we take responsibility for the process and communicate with the appointed person. It’s important to select a person in an executive management role who can make important decisions regarding your company.

All departments in your organisation will be involved in developing the QMS. As part of this process the customers of each department must be identified and documentation must be created for every work area. Staff must be trained to ensure that they can keep records in the proper way and understand the underlying principles of QMS. We provide an extensive range of courses to help train employees in the relevant areas.

You’ll also need to control the use of policy & procedure documents to ensure that all documents used in your company are always the latest and most up-to-date versions. Older document versions must be removed from the system and this is where the use of advanced technology comes in to ensure that only the latest versions are available. You need to implement a numbering system to clearly identify document versions and also need to identify which records to remove and which ones to keep for compliance with the audit requirements.

Corrective measures must be in place for quick identification of problem areas and the fixing thereof. Proactive steps must be taken to prevent repeated mistakes. Adequate records must be kept regarding the problems and steps in correcting them.

Employee training

When it comes to employee training, you’ll also need to keep exact details regarding training completed, who should attend training, and which shortcomings still exist. Full recordkeeping is important for identification of past work experience, qualifications and ongoing training as well as future training requirements.
